The Gray Matter Experience’s annual fundraising event, UNTAPPED: Powering the Possibilities for a New Generation of Black Entrepreneurs illuminates the untapped potential that exists within young, Black entrepreneurs.

We celebrate with three major events to reach a target fundraising goal to support our extraordinary young leaders.

AT THE BLIND BARBER

  • An opportunity to mix and mingle with some of the key players in Chicago's tech and business ecosystem.

WITH TECHRISE & VERIZON

  • In first place, we had Janniya Hodge with her company, Kargo Kangaroo. She was awarded $10,000 to help her scale and grow her on-demand delivery service for beauty supplies and local entrepreneurs.

  • In second place we had Emmanuel Thompson with his company, Strength Together. He was awarded $5,000 to help build and scale his mental health company that uses Artificial Intelligence to enhance therapy practices in the U.S. Strength Together partners with therapy to groups to give their practicers insider information on their patients with daily thought logs and symptomatology.

  • In third place was Oluwaseyi Olaleye with his company, Organic Harvest Digital. He won $3,000 to help fund his mission of combating community hunger while empowering Black, Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color (PoC) communities at the intersection of race, farming, and digital technologies.
